4000 Miles

At the Lincoln Center Theater located at the Mitzi E. Newhouse, 150 West 65th Street. It runs one hour forty five minutes with no intermission.

The show premiere on June 20, 2011 as part of Lincoln Center LCT3 development program. The show then moved to the Mitzi E. Newhouse on April 2, 2012. It was originality schedule to end on May 20, 2012 but was extended to July 1, 2012.

It won the 2012 Obie for Best New American Play (Amy Herzog) and for Performances (Gabriel Ebert and Mary Louise Wilson).

Mary Louise Wilson won a Tony Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Award for her performance in "Grey Gardens" (2007). She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the revival of "Cabaret" (1998). Mary won a Drama Desk Award for "Full Gallop" (1997).

The play takes place in Greenwich Village in September of another year.

Leo (Gabriel Ebert) ends his cross country trip on a bike at his grandmothers Vera Joseph(Mary Louise Wilson) apartment.

His friend is killed on the trip. We find out what happen to his friend and other events that have taken place recently in Leo's life.

Leo is twenty one. In the three weeks he is there a bond is formed with his ninety one year old grandmother.

Two other characters come in for a short time. One is an old girlfriend Bec (Zoe Winter) and a girl he picks up Amanda(Greta Lee).

Mary Louise Wilson does such a remarkable job. You are believe that she is ninety one. Such as not having teeth, or being able to hear without her hearing aid, hard getting up from a seat or losing her memory.

Gabriel stands on his own and does an outstanding job as a confused young man.

Zoe is in two scenes and Greta is in one. Both give memorial performances.

You have one week left to see this wonderful, funny play. I wish I had seen it sooner.
