The Parisian Women

The Parisian Woman is playing at the Hudson Theatre located at 139-141 West 44th Street. Ir runs two hour fifteen minutes with one intermission. It closes on March 11, 2018.

Pam MacKinnon is the director. She was nominated for a Tony Award for Clybourne Park (2012) and won a Tony in 2013 for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

Derek McLane is the set designer. He was nominated for four Tony Awards. He won two for 33 Variations (2009) and Pajama Game (2006) and was nominated for Anything Goes (2011) and Ragtime (2010).

Jane Greenwood is the costume designer. She was nominated for a Tony Award for The Little Foxes (2017). Jane won a Tony for “Lifetime Achievement in Theatre (2014).

Blair Brown won a Tony Award for Copenhagen (2000).

Phillipa Soo was nominated for a Tony Award for Hamilton (2016).

The place is Washington, D. C., the time is the present.

Chloe (Uma Thurman) is in her living room, talking to Peter (Morton Csokas). He is demanding she give him her phone, he is jealous and wants to see who she is texting. She won’t give it to him, telling him she has told him before he has to trust her.

Tom (Josh Lucas) comes into the room, he is Chloe’s husband.

It seems they have been married for twenty years and have a somewhat open marriage. Tom wants to run for judge. Chloe wants Peter to put in a good word for him with the president.

They are invited to a party her friend Jeanette (Blair Brown) is having. She is in politics. Jeanette introduces her to her daughter Rebecca (Phillipa Soo). She has just graduated from Harvard and will be taking her bar exam soon. Rebecca wants to go into politics.

Chloe got the name the Parisian Women when she lived in Paris after graduating college.

When Chloe meets Jeanette at her house she tells her Tom did not get the nomination. Chloe tells her that she Rebecca is lovers. If Jeanette does not put in a good word for Tom she will exposed the affair with emails and pictures she has.

Tom gets the nomination.

The rest as usual you will just have to see the show.

This is the most enjoyable play I have seen in a while. It pokes fun at Trump without mentioning his name. At the end they mention his name.

Pam MacKinnon did a great job directing. The cast shined. Phillipa Soo did a wonderful job especially in her last scene. Uma Thurman did a remarkable performance in her Broadway debut.

The set and costumes were the best.

A Parisian women is a must see show. You won’t be disappointed.
