Seared

Seared is playing at MCC Theatre located at 522 West 52 Street. It runs two hours with one intermission. The play closes on December 1, 2019.

Mortiz Von Stuelpnagel is the director. He was nominated for a Tony Award for Hand to God (2014).

Raul Esparzc was nominated for four Tony Awards for Speed-the-Plow (2009), The Home Coming (2008), Company on Broadway (2007) and Taboo (2004).

Harry (Raul Esparzc) is a chief in a small restaurant. Mike (Davis Mason) is his partner and is the one who put up the money to operate the restaurant.

Rodney (W. Tre Davis) is the waiter.

Harry is a particular chief. Such as the scallops and salmon have to be certain kind or he won’t use them.

A food critic gives them a great review, especially the scallop dish. Harry refuses to cook it again, despite the influx of new customers wanting that dish.

Emily (Krysta Rodriquez) comes into the kitchen raving about the food. She is a consultant.

Mike ask her to help him get the restaurant know so that they have more customers. They are barely making even and he’s afraid if the rent goes up that’s the end of the restaurant.

She does what she set out to do and make the restaurant a hit. Harrys not happy about.

Emily doesn’t tell Harry that a famous food critic is coming to the restaurant for a review. She tells Mike not to tell him, she will. Mike tells Rodney the same thing.

Harry freaks out when he finds out he’s in the restaurant. To tell you what happens would spoil everything.

This is a very enjoyable play. Raul Esparza, what can I say except WOW! He does a remarkable performance. The rest of the cast W. Tre Davis, David Mason and Krysta Rodriquez were outstanding. The whole cast shines.

Tim Mackabee set is brilliant. It’s amazing to see Raul cook different dishes. Makes you want to get one after the show.

Don’t miss this show though you might want to eat before you do.
