The Fix In Concert

The Fix: In Concert was performed at Feinstein’s/54 Below located at 254 West 54th Street. It was performed one night only on August 10, 2017. The running time was seventy five minutes.

It was first performed at London’s Domar warehouse in 1997. The musical was nominated for several Olivier Awards and won one. The only American performance was in 2015 at the Signature Theatre, located in Arlington, Virginia. Mark Evans was in that production.

On the eve of election night Senator Chandler (Gary Milner) is a sure shoot to become the next president. However on the eve of the election he dies of a heart attack in the bed of his mistress. His wife Violet (Sally Ann Triplett) wants to stay in the limelight. With the help of her brother Graham (David cantor) they groom her son Cal (Mark Evans) for a future in politics. They have him join the Army; arrange a marriage for him, anything to get him elected in whatever office he is going for. No matter what it costs to get him into office?

Cal is not interest and starts drinking, taking drugs and finding a mistress. He gets caught with the mistress Tina (Kristen Gehling). The pictures are going to go public. With the help of a mob figure Anthony Gliardi (Paul Thomas Ryan) things are made good but at what price.

There are about five actors on the stage at one time. Some are scattered around Studio 54, making comments at times. Gary Milner was sitting at a table before the show as if he was a customer.

The cast does a great job. Mark Evans is amazing. His voice, facial and body movement are breath taking.

Given the political upheaval now, it would be nice to see this musical done off Broadway. It would fit right in.

The only downfall of Studio54 is where your seat is. You might just miss something. It still was a good show.
