The Lifespan Of A Fact

The Lifespan of a Fact is playing at Studio 54 located at 254 West 54th Street. It runs ninety minutes with no intermission. The play closes on January 13, 2019.

Leigh Silverman is the director. She was nominated for a Tony Award in 2014 for Violet.

Mimi Lien is the scenic designer. She won a Tony Award in 2017 for Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.

Linda Cho is the costume designer. She won a Tony Award in 2014 for A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder and was nominated for a Tony Award in 2017 for Anastasia.

Daniel Radcliffe is known for his role in the Harry Potter movies.

Cherry Jones won two Tony Awards for Doubt (2005) and The Heiress (1995) and was nominated for three Tony Awards for The Glass Menagerie (2014), A Moon for the Misbegotten (2000) and Our Country’s Good (1991).

Bobby Cannavale was nominated for two Tony Awards for The Motherf**ker With the Hat (2011) and Mauritius (2007).

Emily (Cherry Jones) is interviewing Jim (Daniel Radcliffe) for a job. The job is proof reading an article for the magazine she works. He’s to proof read it for accuracy of dates and names. Jim gets the job. It’s Wednesday, he has till Monday morning to do it. He’s reading an article on a young man who killed himself by jumping off a building in Las Vegas. But he can’t get by the first sentence when finds problems. Jim calls Emily about it. She gives him the author’s phone number to call him. She tells him not to say it’s an article but an essay.

The writer John (Bobby Cannavale) lives in Las Vegas. Jim goes there to discuss the misleading sentences.

When Emily finds Jim is at Johns house and sleeping on his coach she decides to go to Vegas.

The play goes back and forth on things written that Jim says are untrue. In the meantime they are getting closer to the deadline.

Monday is here! Does Emily go with John’s version with all its loopholes or go with another story?

Well I won’t give anything away since the audience doesn’t know either.

The set in the beginning was not elaborate but it came together in a clever way, to end being a nice set. Mimi Lien does a nice job.

The definition of a fact is “something that actually exists; reality and truth”. Have we seen it and is what we heard a fact? Makes you think on things we read all the time.

The is a fact you don’t have a lifetime to find out.
