Mark Felt Superstar
Mark Felt Superstar is playing at The Theatre at Saint Peter’s located at 618 Lexington Avenue, New York City. It is part of The York Theatre Company. It runs one hour thirty minutes with no intermission. The musical closes on January 15, 2017.
Mark Felt was the second associate director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations. He was in office from May 8, 1972 thru June 22, 1973. Mark died on December 18, 2008 at age 95.
The show opens With Mark (Neal Mayer) telling us he is 91. He admits he is “Deep Throat”, the whistleblower of the Watergate scandal of President Richard Nixon’s second term.
We learn his involvement with Bob Woodward (Peter Benson), Richard Nixon (Michael McCoy), Audrey Felt, his wife (Vanessa Lemonides) and The Everbody Else (Will Erat). The other people involved pictures are held up.
This is a modern Hamilton without the rap. Politics has not changed.
Except for Neal Myers the other actors do several roles. The all do an excellent job. Especially when we are told they rehearsed for only five days before the show opened. Wow what a great job.
Joshua Rosenblum wrote the book, music, lyrics/musical director. He also plays the piano during the show. Joshua had a small part in the show. A picture of him when he was younger is held up and we are told how he was involved.
Don’t miss this well done show.
