Miss Abigail's guide to Dating, Mating & Marriage

Is Playing at Sofia's Downstairs Theatre at 221 West 46th St. The show opened on October 20, 2010 with Eve Plum. Joyce Dewitt took over the role in June 2011. The theatre is located underneath a restaurant. The audience sits on folded seats, you forget all of this once the show begins. Before the show starts music from the 50's and 60's plays such tunes as Breaking up Is Hard to Do and Stop In The Name Of Love. The music sets you in the mood as to what is to follow. The set is modest with books and books lining the book shelve on the stage. The real Miss Abigail is an advice columinist and blogger. She has nearly 1,000 advise books dating from the 1820's to the 1970's. There is a couch , stuffed chair and two end tables on the set, a red phone is on one of the tables, the other holds and old advice book.

Miss Abigail's Mexican assistant Paco (Mauricio Perez) puts book on the shelves, vacuum cleans and dusts before she comes out.

Miss Abigai (Joyce Dewitt, better known as Janet Wood in Three's Company) explains she will be giving us advice on dating, mating and marriage, sometimes quoting from the books behind her. Paco helps her with the advice.

The hour and twenty minutes goes fast. The show is supurb. Miss Abigail and Paco interacts with the audience, asking them questions. Audience members are brought on stage all in good fun. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. One particular gentlemen started haming it up.

Joyce said to me, her co star was brilliant. There is a chemistry between them and it shows.

Mauricio is so convincing and funny as the assistant so in love with her he's about to break down and cry if she doesn't respond. You keep rooting for him.

Joyce is great in her role. I hope we see more of her. Maybe next time it will be on Broadway.

Miss Abigail is know as Abigail Groke. Her column is called "Miss Abigail's Time Warp Advice".
