The Wolves

The Wolves is playing at the Mitzi E. Newhouse located at 150 West 65th Street. It runs one hour thirty minutes with no intermission. The play closed on January 8, 2018.

The play premiered at the Duke at 42d in September 2016.

Sarag DeLapne is the playwright. The play was a finalist in 2017 for Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

A girl’s high school team is warming up before a game. The girls are talking among themselves; some are making comments on what is being said.

Several games are played during the play. They go off stage, we hear sounds of a game going on.

We learn a little about them. H7 (Brenna Coates) gets injured and can’t play. The rest of the team does their best to win. Their goal is to make to the finals in Florida.

Near the end something happens which effects all of them. What happens you will have to see the play to find out.

The beginning is slow and the dialogue frivolous. We have stretches where they are warming up for practice or a game there is no clue. I felt like I was missing something. As the play goes on there is more substance to the story it becomes interesting. The second part of the play is very good

The cast does an outstanding job.
