American Moor

American Moor is playing at the Cherry Lane Theatre located at 38 Commerce Street. The play runs ninety minutes with no intermission. It closes on October 5, 2019.

An Actor (Keith Hamilton Cobb) comes on stage ten minutes before the show begins, he’s reading Othello.

When the play starts the actor tells us how he got into acting. It started in high school. I was an OK actor. He’s here to audition for Othello).

A director (Josh Tyson) is in the aisle and gives him direction on how to audition for the role.

An actor is upset on how the white director knows how an African American feels or should act like Othello. He goes in and out character as black Othello would act. When a director tells him, he is bad being himself.

This is a well-done play, although at times I felt it was a bit too long. Keith Hamilton Cobb does an outstanding performance.
