Alien Nation
Alien Nation is playing at Cherry Lane Theatre located at 38 Commerce Street. It runs two hours thirty minutes with one intermission. The plays close December 3, 2017.
The show consists of two plays. The first was The Journey I Never Made. Silvia (Carlotta Brentan) is waiting for a train. We are someplace in Italy. Her cousin lives in another country and she is going there to work. Silvia is edgy. There is a man in a blanket lying on a bench. She sees Petra (Paloma Pilar) in a distance approaching the train station. Each of them talks to them self, leery of each other.
The story goes back and forth between Silvia and Petra. The train has been delayed but finally comes in or does it?
The second play is A Story Of Love and Soccer. One (Dave Johnson) tells us about the town he lives in. It is in a remote part of Italy. There are different ethnic groups that live in the town. None of them have anything to do with the other.
Someone comes up with the idea that they should have a soccer match between each group.
One’s brother Two (Eric Gravez) plays soccer.
We find out more about the games and about the people in town playing and betting on the games.
Two falls for an India girl. Her brother said he’ll let her date him if he wins the final match. He plans to bet heavy on the final match.
Won’t tell you what happens and spoil it.
Of the two plays A Story of Love and Soccer is the best. I’d like to see it done with more actors but it still is an interesting story as is. Eric and Paul pull it off. Both do an outstanding job.
The Journey I Never I Never Made is a confusing play. That’s all I will say. Carlotta Brentan does impressive job.
