Clueless The Musical

Clueless, The Musical is playing at the Signature Theatre located at 420 West 42nd Street. It runs two hus ten minutes with one intermission. The play closes on January 12, 2019.

It’s based on the 1995 movie.

Kelly Devine is the choreographe. She was nominated for a Tony Award in 2017 for Come From Away.

Beowuff Boritt is the scenic designer. He won a Tony Award for Act One (2014) and was nominated for two Tony Awards for Therese Raquin (2016) and The Scottsboro Boys (2011).

Cher (Dove Cameron) is sixteen years old. She lives with her father (Chris Hoch) and her not biological step brother Josh (David Thomas Brown). Her father is a lawyer and is always busy. He spoils her with designer clothes. Dionne (Zurin Villanueva) is her best friend. Murray (Gilbert L. Bailey II) is Dionne boyfriend he sometimes hangs out with them.

Cher is barely passing in high school. If her grades are bad she charms her teachers to change the grade.

A new girl comes to school. Tia (Ephie Aardema). Cher and Dionne take her under their wings to groom her so that her classmates won’t make fun of her.

Tia is attracted to Travis (Will Connolly). Travis likes to smoke pot. Cher and Dionne decide Elton (Brett Sikora) is the one for Tai. But he’s attracted to Cher. He offers to take Cher home from a party they were at. On the way home he kisses her. She makes him stop the car. He leaves her and she is robbed. Josh comes to her rescue.

Cher and Dionne become match makers between two of their teachers.

This is a light, fun, delightful musical to see.

Kelly Devine chorography’s is delightful.

Beowuff Boritt set design was outstanding.

I was talking to a bunch of 10 year old girls. I asked them if they liked the show. They smiled and said yes.

If you want to leave with a happy feeling this is the musical to see.
