I Don't Know Why He Loves Me
I Don’t Know Why He Loves Me is playing at St. Lukes Theatre located at 308 West 46th Street. It runs two hours thirty minutes with one intermission. You can see it on Saturday or Sunday at 8 P.M. The musical closes on June 19, 2016.
The show opens with six people talking about love.
The story revolves around the following people, the minister and his wife. We met the women he is having an affair with. The aunt and her nephew, he is selling drugs. An inter-racial couple, whose daughter is in love with the drug dealer. There is another couple whose son is doing drugs. The last family has a son and daughter. Both children are having sex with the same man. Last but not lease the man that supplies the drugs.
The story goes back and forth between the characters. There are 22 people we see on stage at one time or another.
Sometimes the characters sing.
The show has potential but not the way it is now. The characters are shallow. The story has no substance to want to care about the characters. Sometimes you could not hear the actors especially in the beginning when the six of them talked.
The music added nothing to the show and sometimes they were sung off key. However the musicians playing were good. They played before the show started and during the songs that were sung.
